The Unexpected Mentor

**The Unexpected Mentor**

**Day 1:**

Today, I started managing a new project at work. I feel excited but also nervous. I have a team of interns, and one of them, Mia, is very different from the others. She is quiet but always seems to have good ideas. I wrote in my diary, “I need to guide them, but maybe I can learn from them too.”

**Day 2:**

During our morning meeting, Mia suggested we use a new tool for our project. “It’s easier and faster,” she said. At first, I hesitated. I thought I knew best. But then I remembered my goal: to make the project successful. I decided to listen.

**Day 3:**

The new tool worked! Our team finished the tasks much quicker. I wrote, “Mia taught me that it’s okay to ask for help.” I realized that managing isn’t just about giving orders; it’s about working together.

**Day 4:**

Today, I thanked Mia. “You really helped us,” I said. She smiled and replied, “We’re a team. We can learn from each other.” I felt grateful. I learned that mentorship can come from unexpected places.

**Final Thoughts:**

Reflecting on these days, I see that being a good manager means being open to new ideas. I learned to value everyone’s input, no matter their experience. Mia became my mentor, and I will always remember that.
